Dolomites – photography trip 2025 – Part 1

Finally, the time had come again this year! We set off for the Dolomites. As usual, we drove through Slovenia at night so we could reach the Church of Sv. Tomaž by sunrise. We arrived well in time. This time, there was no fog waiting for us. We still stayed for sunrise and took a few photos.

I also shot a 360° panorama, because the autumn scenery with the cloud cover was just beautiful.

We continued our journey. Soon we crossed into Austria and looked for a place to stop, rest, eat, and maybe take a few photos. We chose Weissensee. It was gorgeous.

I took a 360° panorama here as well.

Our first accommodation was booked in Villandro again this year, the same hotel as before. After a good sleep, on the first morning we headed to Alpe di Siusi. It was a foggy morning, the sun didn’t break through the clouds. It wasn’t too spectacular, so we gave up on it relatively quickly.

We really wanted to go up to Seceda, but because of the fog it was questionable whether it made sense. We checked the webcam, but it didn’t give us a clear answer. So we waited, improvised, and visited the Tervela waterfall near Santa Cristina Valgardena.

Eventually, we decided to go up to Seceda. You can reach it with two cable cars. The first is a smaller, six-person cabin. The ride was very unpleasant for me. My fear of heights and the swaying cabin made it a struggle. At the top we switched to a larger cable car for about 20–30 people. It was more stable, but traveled much higher above the ground. Finally, we reached Seceda. The view was absolutely worth it! The fog moved at the perfect height, making it possible to take beautiful photos. The moment I saw it, I immediately felt compensated for the unpleasant cable car experience.

I also took a 360° panorama,

I also made Tiny Planet panoramas.

I feel the regular panoramic images turned out really strong as well 🙂

360° panoramas can be freely “folded” in the software, so I created two additional versions from one.

I’ll upload another batch of photos. I feel like I really managed to take advantage of the weather and location. A small dream came true in this amazing place.

This year we went down with the last cable car, before sunset. Going down was no less scary, but for a while we traveled through the fog so we couldn’t see the depth beneath us. To be continued in the next part.
