Gigapanorama
As a curiosity and for the challenge, I created a few gigapans.
Due to their enormous size, they are uploaded to a site specifically designed for this purpose. They can also be accessed from my website.
Creating panorama images is a unique genre. I love it because it allows me to capture a larger slice of the world. Anyone can take a good photo with a bit of luck. Panoramas are different. It’s advisable to plan what I want to capture. The base images need to be taken accordingly. If these turn out well, that’s already half the battle. But the bigger task still lies ahead. The images need to be processed and then stitched together. The most challenging part is creating an accurate stitch, preferably without any errors.
I created a gigapan in Pécs from the top of the 17-story building, consisting of 170 images. This amount of data was a tough challenge for the i7 processor and 16GB RAM. The final image is 105,668×17,612 pixels in size.
