Relaxation at the oxbow Lake

On our day off, we went down to my favorite oxbow lake for a barbecue. After grilling and eating, we took a break, then I started taking photos. My first subject was the white water lily (Nymphaea alba). There were a few blooming plants right next to the dock.

Next, I took a look around with the drone, and I was quite taken with a swan family sunbathing on a nearby dock.

I really wanted to capture a dragonfly in flight. I estimate I spent about an hour on this task. At first, I was only able to take a few shots of younger specimens when they briefly stopped, but not yet in flight.

I kept at it. First, I caught one during a short rest on a reed, and finally, I managed to photograph this agile insect in midair.

To wind down, the swan family set off swimming, giving me yet another photo opportunity.

The barbecue was great, and the photography session ended successfully as well.
