Storm in the neighborhood

I went to photograph near the Drava River. According to the weather forecast, a storm was approaching. I hoped I could capture some dramatic images, and I think it worked out. On the other side of the Drava, over in Croatia, there was a proper downpour.

I managed to take a photo that felt special to me. All of the images were essentially intended as panoramas, since the extent of the cloud cover made it impossible to capture everything I wanted in a single shot. While shooting one of the panoramas, there was a lightning strike, and it seemed to happen right in the direction the drone was facing. I quickly finished capturing the rest of the panorama and then reviewed the images. The lightning was clearly visible in the exact section I had just photographed. I was able to capture the full bolt and even stitch the panorama in a way that includes it. Here is the panorama, and the lightning bolt separately. I wouldn’t have bet even a small amount that I’d ever photograph a storm and lightning like this.
